Each unit chooses the exact activities for their youth, but here are some of the things that West Hartford units have done in the past:
Cub Scouts (grades K - 5)
Close to home
- Raising the flag at our schools' start-of-year ceremonies and lowering it for end-of-school ceremonies.
- Hiking to Heublein tower
- Hiking the West Hartford reservoirs
- Helping to plant flags at cemetaries for Memoral Day
- Watching a Hartford Wolfpack game and skating on the ice after!
- Watching a Yard goats game, camping on the field after, and watching a movie on the Jumbotron!
- Racing cars in a Pinewood Derby!
- Collecting food for the West Hartford Food Bank through a 'Fill a Tent!' food drive
- Fishing for trout (and catching some) at Fernridge Park
- Marching in the Park Road parade and the Memorial Day parade
- End-of-year campouts at Camp Shalom or Winding Trails
- A family cookout at Wickham Park.
- Camping with the Scouts BSA Troops
- Bowling and pizza at Ducks on the Avenue
- Competing in the Cubs Blizzard Blast
- Launching rockets with CATO rocketry club
- Flying kites at Bushnell Park
- Archery, BB-guns, camping, and swimming at the BSA camps
- Star gazing at the Talcott Mountain Science Center

- Sleeping overnight on a real battleship
- Sleeping overnight on a whaling ship
- Sleeping overnight at the aquarium

- Visiting Avery soda to watch soda being made and to make our own!
- Indoor rock climbing at Stone Age Gym
- Biking the Farmington River Trail to the Massachusetts border (over several weekends)
- Rent a site or attend a Cub Scout event at any of the local scout camps
